Global artist Matt B has received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Global Music Album for his most recent album, ALKEBULAN II.

For Matt, ALKEBULAN II is a passion project centered around the idea of building a bridge of unity between his Motherland of Africa and America.

Recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios and featuring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra along with South African poet Nomfundo Khambule, the 10-track album offers a harmonious fusion of orchestral music, traditional African elements, and spoken word taking listeners on an epic and theatrical voyage of sound and soul as Matt unravels the layers of adversity and perseverance.

A follow-up to his critically acclaimed Afrobeats album ALKEBULAN, ALKEBULAN II continues to explore the struggles, losses, and oppression of our ancestors and how these conflicts mirror Matt’s personal journey today in his life and career.

The ALKEBULAN series offers culturally rich listening experiences serving as homages to Matt’s heritage, further elevating the soundscape he has so brilliantly captured with his previous Afro-inspired releases.

The project kicked off in 2023 with ALKEBULAN which debuted on six Billboard charts including Top New Artist Albums, Top Albums, Top Current Album Sales, and Top Current Digital Albums. The album features an updated version of his GRAMMY-nominated hit single “Gimme Love” featuring Eddy Kenzo.

As a sequel, ALKEBULAN II continues Matt’s musical exploration incorporating sounds from various African countries and exciting collaborations with actor and GRAMMY-nominated artist Sekou Andrews and Africa’s first Afropop choir Amazwi8 to bring the album to new heights. Earlier this week, single “NO WAHALA” was also nominated for a Hollywood Music In Media award for Best Song — Short Film.

Experience Matt B’s incredible live performance next Friday, November 15th when he performs at The Mint LA in Los Angeles, CA. Tickets are on sale now, here.
